Dear Stranger,
Saturdays are the worst. You would think a public holiday and a Saturday should combine to make a strong case for taking an off. Hell, no. Where did you think you were? Earth? You are in freaking hell.
At least I know I was. Kylo had poached my best lead troop and the other had bitched against me to the higher authorities. I don’t know why I bother to be a fair leader. I should learn to play dirty and soon.
And then there is the band of blind followers, stoking my fires of rebellion. People who behave like they are ready to lay down their lives for the Dark Lord, the bootlickers, I mean, disgust me no end. My face though doesn’t lie. The Dark Lord knows that I am someone who cannot be had. And so he drives me even harder.
I want to get out of this hell.
And today my fires are stoked.
“I want to say something-” I begin, as the ever continuous battle of who gets the choicest weapons continues.
“We don’t want any irrelevant stuff discussed here, RG1.” The Dark Lord was firm.
“If I am not heard in my meetings, I would rather not join them.” I announced, the fire within goading me on.
That put a full stop to all he had to say.
“Go ahead, Gina.” He relented, and I am sure it took a piece out of him.
“I have a message for us all.” I said, although it was only for Kylo Ren.
“We are not team alpha, beta, gamma, theta…but the Death Star in totality. We are here not to fight amongst ourselves but defeat the one big enemy. So, let’s focus on that. If it’s required that some of us send our troops on off-days and have to pitch in for the other teams, then maybe we should assist each other instead of passing the buck and creating discontent within teams.” Of course, this was all for Kylo Ren. “That’s all, thanks.”
There was a two-second silence that greeted my little speech but I had to make my point. I had thought of dueling with Kylo and taking him head on. One day, of course, I will. But today was not that day. Some battles are fought in meeting rooms. When the time comes, I will fight him on the battlefield too.
“RG1 is right. We need to band together to achieve the best that we have done till now. This is the time when we can take over the Earth and actually become the leaders of this planet. We cannot let this opportunity go.”
“Kylo, please make plans for tomorrow. Get your forces ready for storming tomorrow.”
I felt like dancing. I didn’t, of course. Looking at Kylo’s horrified face, I did a mental jig instead.
“Of course, Your Majesty…err…My Lord…you will see us up and early. Zone VIII will be ours. The Earth will be ours. Very soon.”
“Good. Let’s instil this spirit of attack in each of our troops. We are here to win. Against all odds!”
“Aye aye!” everyone chorused.
I could find an amused look in the Dark Lord’s eyes as if he had grown some respect for me. He didn’t seem as outraged as I thought he would be.

“I will raze your forces to the ground.”
Yes, these were his precise words. I should have recorded them but I wasn’t prepared for him to have declared an actual all-out war once the meeting was done.
“I can see through the game you are playing. Don’t think you will be able to play for long. I was here when you were out playing with boys, you little girl. If you aren’t careful, I will destroy you.” Kylo’s eyes were bloody and his voice was icy.
But I had only one thing to say to him. I challenged him by staring into his eyes.
“You can try.”

I had another confrontation left before I could call it a day. The Dark Lord cornered me and spoke in a stern tone, “What has got into you, RG1? You seem out of sorts and seem to have a bone to pick.”
“I don’t know what you are talking about, My Lord,” I said innocently, even though I wanted to say, “You created this monster that I am steadily turning into.”
He waited for me to speak further but I was adamant. I wouldn’t say an extra word. So, he changed tack.
“But I appreciate your foresight. Let’s see execution as well. Ready for tomorrow’s storming of Zone V?”
I groaned inwardly. Tomorrow was a frigging Sunday. He had taken my speech and turned it on its head. He had not only got Kylo to work but had roped me in too. Damn this crazy-ass.
Not only was I misaligned with his principles but also with his workaholic and zero-life tendencies. What was this man made of? Oh I had forgotten. He was the freaking Dark Lord. He was not made of anything human. At least not anymore.
And that’s when I realized why he was invincible.
You do understand now why they can’t kill the Dark Lord, right?
Because he has no life in the first place.
At war,
The Rogue Stormtrooper
