Dear Stranger,
Things seem to be getting morbid with each passing day. Deaths seem to be going up like age; all ages combined, I mean. Humans would soon be extinct under the onslaught of this primitive race.
Perhaps, that’s what the Dark Lord desires. Dominion over the earth. Giving rise to a new species. The Inhumans? Experiments were on. And Kylo Ren was overseeing them.
“Lord, I have an idea.”
“Yes, Kylo?”
Kylo Ren always had ideas. He was the first to wake up (at the crack of fucking dawn) and the first to populate WhatsApp business groups with his early morning meetings, plans and strategies. He was the Dark Lord’s SIC. Second in Command. And the one who irritated me the most.
“I believe our troops can be divided into three batches- the ones smart enough to adapt to changes and bring business, the second ones who may not be so smart but still manage to make it up through extra effort and finally, the ones who are the chaff and need to be weeded out the soonest.”
“Excellent insight!” The Dark Lord’s praise made him redden with pleasure. “Any other ideas?”
There were four more leaders in the Dark Lord’s team, one of whom was yours truly, RG1- Rogue Girl One, or as the Dark Lord knew me- Regent Gina One. I was relatively new to the picture but had caught on fast. The other three- Alpha, Beta and Gamma, had been in the system for some time. But none of them had any soft corner for Kylo Ren which made us four allies of sorts. But Kylo Ren was the most ambitious of all.
We had been recruited by the Dark Lord on the basis of the Force. The Force or the energy as you call it, is the basis of our organization. It fuels everything, the Death Star, the operations, our business, everything that helps us survive.
The Force had been strongest in me and Ren. But i knew in my heart of hearts, Ren and I ran in opposite directions. I was his nemesis.
And today we were supposed to have our recruiting drives for the ground troops.
“RG1, I want to hear your perspective. How do we expand our forces? The virus seems to be gaining ground with each passing day. What is your agenda?”
I tried to blubber out my bleary-eyed perspective.
“Lord, we need to ensure that our troops are protected at all times and only go out when necessary. The virus is primitive in nature, primitively powerful. It can affect anyone. Humans and inhumans alike.”
“Meh,” Kylo Ren coughed. “There is a difference, RG1. The Inhumans cannot feel the pain once they have been turned. You have a lot to learn.”
“Nevertheless, it is our responsibility to apprise them of the dangers that they face before they go on ground.” I retorted.
“They know the dangers very well. They still choose to go out.”
“BECAUSE THEY DON’T HAVE AN EFFING CHOICE, REN!” I couldn’t help but lose it. Kylo Ren was not an Inhuman but he was as natural an Inhuman as there could be. “THEY NEED SUSTENANCE. THEY ARE FORCED TO WORK FOR IT.”
“As they should, RG1.” Ren’s infuriating smile made my blood boil. But the worst was the Dark Lord’s reaction. He would keep mute through all of it. Never did he once let his Skywalker blood show. I don’t know why I had chosen to work under him in the first place. What did I expect? That he would suddenly return as the Jedi and help me become one as I had always dreamt of? He was the Dark Lord and there was no turning back from the Dark Side. I should have simply bided my time in the sidelines along with the Resistance.
“I need your forces full, RG1.” The Dark Lord commanded and I was forced to accept. “And I need you to go on the battlefield yourself.”
There. The command had been given.
My time had come. I was about to step in.
Apprehensive and ready to step onto the battlefield,
The Rogue Stormtrooper
